99 Names of Allah- Belief in Allah is the first pillar of īmān (faith) in Islam. As Muslims, we know and worship Allah through His beautiful Names and perfect Attributes, which He has revealed in the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah. Throughout the Qur’an, Allah mentions His Names repeatedly so that we may recognize His greatness, understand His perfection, and draw closer to Him in worship and devotion.

Learning and reflecting upon the Names of Allah—Al-Asmā’ al-Ḥusnā (The Most Beautiful Names)—is one of the most honored acts of worship. There is nothing more sacred than knowing our Creator and living by the guidance His Names provide.
How can we truly worship, love, fear, hope in, and rely upon Allah if we do not know Him through His Names and Attributes?
Qur’anic Verses About the Beautiful Names of Allah
“Allah has the Most Beautiful Names. So call upon Him by them, and keep away from those who misuse His Names. They will be punished for what they used to do.”
(Qur’an 7:180)
“Allah—there is no deity worthy of worship except Him. He has the Most Beautiful Names.”
(Qur’an 20:8)
“He is Allah—the Creator, the Inventor, the Shaper. To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names. Everything in the heavens and the earth glorifies Him. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise.”

Prophetic Teachings About the 99 Names
The Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ said:
“Indeed, Allah has ninety-nine Names—one hundred minus one. Whoever encompasses them will enter Paradise.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 2736)
“Allah has ninety-nine Names. Whoever preserves them will enter Paradise. Allah is Witr (One) and loves the odd.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2677a)
